Fabric Types
Blinds & Curtains
Block-out
Block-out fabrics do not allow any light to pass through the fabric, offering unmatched undisturbed privacy.
Blinds & Curtains
Dim-out & Room Darkening
Similar to block-out, dim-out fabrics offer good (but not complete) light block-out and adequate shade from direct sunlight and undisturbed privacy.
Blinds & Curtains
Light Filtering, Translucent & Uncoated
Light filtering fabrics allows softly filtered light in but provides ample shade from direct sunlight. They provide complete daytime privacy and varying degrees of privacy at night-time.
Blinds & Curtains
Sheer
Sheer fabrics feature slender threading, and an open weave to create a light, semi-transparent effect. They offer some reduction of glare from direct sunlight, but do not obstruct one’s peripheral view. They do not offer night-time privacy and are usually paired with another blind or curtain.
Blinds & Awnings
Screen
Like sheers, screen fabrics feature an open weave but heavier duty threading to create a semi-transparent effect. Screen fabrics reduce heat, glare and harmful UV rays from direct sunlight but do not obstruct one’s peripheral view. They do not offer night-time privacy and are usually paired with another blind or curtain. Standard opacities are 2%, 5% & 10% respectively.
